What Is Being Reviewed

WBRZ reported from LSU Police records that Kendall Francis made an official police report on September 21, 2026. She told police she was coming forward after Damien Shanklin successfully appealed the campus ban and returned to LSU.

On September 22, East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore confirmed that the matter had been brought to his office for review. Moore said his office requested reports, interviews, evidence, and other relevant records from LSU, LSU Police, Baton Rouge Police, the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner's Office, and other agencies with information.

ESPN publicly identified Shanklin on October 1 as the LSU football player under investigation. LSU Police described the matter as ongoing, and the district attorney's office confirmed it was collecting materials and investigating.
